I can hear it at home, in my car, at my desk and even in the restroom. It is that all too familiar outcry that started as a good idea and has now become a deafening roar, and rightfully so. The demands to preserve and protect the place we call home should have been a priority from the start but, hopefully we have not been too complacent for too long.
The industry for which we manufacture seems to be getting off the starting line slightly behind some of the other industries but, in all fairness it seems as though someone keeps moving the line. Now there is mass confusion as to where to start. There has been significant amount of discussion, polling and guessing (some more educated than others) as to what is “Green” cleaning. We are constantly inundated with unfamiliar scientific terms and government regulations like this:
Current Federal Government Regulatory Issues sites, Executive Order 13101:
-“Green” Cleaning: Cleaning to protect health without harming the environment.
-“Green” Cleaning: More than just switching a traditional cleaning chemical with a naturally derived alternative.
-“Green” Cleaning promotes products and services that reduce the health and environmental impacts compared to similar products and services used for the same purpose.
What have we learned from the massive amount of alien information? Simply put that “green” is more than just the products themselves. In order to meet the demands being placed on us, we are going to have to follow a logical chain of thought and caring from:
*The materials we buy,
*The products we manufacture,
*To training those who use our product. Whether they are our own distributors, contracted cleaning companies or the retail customers, we must change the way we use and dispose of our products to an environmentally-friendly and health-conscience manner.

Now you that you are armed with all the basic guidelines and think that you are juggling what appears to be all the balls, you find that there are sectors of our own kind, the members of the Jan/San industry and various watch groups, that can’t agree on how to “authenticate” a company that is offering these “green” cleaning solutions. I am taken back by the vast amount of articles, both printed and virtual, in which they suggest we should pay big bucks to someone else to be declared “green”.  Their reasoning behind this is understandable. They state that there are no standards, no means to truly compare products without being an industrial hygienist, chemist or toxicologist. How could you be certain if a company was touting something they couldn’t guarantee?
We here at ODORITE INTERNATIONAL, Inc. are fortunate to have a chemist on staff. He is all too familiar with those aforementioned alien terms and government regulations, his drive and passion to create earth-friendly, bio-degradable products puts most everyone I know to shame. Most recently his efforts have afforded us the patented “Para-Free” line of urinal cakes. Magically (or as he would claim, scientifically) he managed to produce an environmentally-friendly, bio-degradable, product that is more than comparable to its old counterpart, and we are excited to add it to Odorite’s many other earth-friendly product lines.

Who knows what new ideas are mulling about in his head? Only time will tell. I am confident of this. Whatever it is will be produced with the ultimate goal of providing you, our friends, families and colleagues with earth-friendly products, so that we can all  have, in every sense of the word- Fresh Air, Everywhere.
